Fin assessed my golf swing from videos I sent him and movements etc. when we met in person. It was amazing … all the golf lessons I had over the years suddenly made perfect sense in that I could appreciate why they were unsuccessful. We worked on stretching my hips and getting better co-ordination in my upper spine. He gave a simple drill to carry over my homework to the range. There was a lot of information and I worked out daily (no more than quarter of an hour per day). After a month I went to the range and had the session of my dreans – I felt I could hardly miss a shot! The way he mixes the physical inabilites to the effect on the club was brilliant. I got real hold on how I swing. I improved my handicap from 8 to 3 in 2 years and we never went to the range once! Highly recommend.

I’ve absolutely loved my sessions with Finlay. My golf swing was unknowingly causing me a lot of problems in my right ankle, which he completely fixed by simply teaching me how to move better. He also added a consistent 20/25 yards to my shots. I’ve increased my understanding of the golf swing as a whole and feel like there is so much more yet to come. Can’t recommend him highly enough.

I was a scratch to 1 golfer most of my life (now 40) but struggled to keep up my standard with various aches, pain, stiffness. I never really gave a whole lot of thought to technique and quite honestly anytime I had tuition I never felt it helped much. A friend recommended Finlay and after booking an appointment I thought it would be more of all the things I already (thought) I knew. No. I was actually in better condition than I realised but there was a few really simple exercises he gave that transformed the way I played the game. I began to free up so much more when I played. It was so obvious now but golf is really about skill not swing. As my concentration improved so I began to play more freely. The physical exercises complimented perfectly and over the course of 6 months I kept my handicap with ease. Clever stuff Fin!

I initially went to see Finlay because a combination of a previously slipped disc and a desk job meant that I became aware that I was gradually becoming less flexible. I was keen to address this both to help my golf and as part of a more general lifestyle focus. The results I got from my work with Finlay were nothing short of astounding, from simple things like being able to touch my toes or comfortably turn my head all the way when trying to pull out of my driveway, to hitting the golf ball further than I had in 20 years – I’d estimate that Finlay’s given me back at least 25 yards on my drives without any change in clubs or swing. Finlay is extremely methodical and structured in his approach; whilst I was initially keen to jump straight to golf strength training, he took me carefully through fixing the (many!) basic problems before gradually introducing more complex and targeted stretches, and supporting me in my return to the gym. As a result of Finlay’s work, I’m now as strong and flexible as I was in my mid-30s, 20 years ago. What makes Finlay unique is his combination of deep experience in golf and dance allied to a rigorous understanding of the theory and practice of physiotherapy, and a fully equipped studio with the equipment he needs to achieve the results. I cannot recommend Finlay and The Movement Studio highly enough.

I first went to see Fin in 2014 after many years of severe lower back pain and a desire to improve my golf swing which was being hindered by my lack of hand and eye coordination and more by me being unable to rotate properly and fully.
Fin worked on freeing up the rotation on my right side and very quickly this lessened my back problems and improved my golf handicap significantly.
Some simple exercises and routine at home keep my back in check and I can say hand on heart that in almost 3 years I have had little back ache and nothing near the pain prior to 2014.
I put this all down to the expertise and skill shown by Fin and the very varied exercise approaches he makes.
It’s a true workout but no heavy sweating and I always feel better and more flexible at the end of every session.
